What’s included

What does a lighting contractor do?

A lighting contractor installs lighting in homes, shops and offices. The work can include LED downlights, track lights, ceiling lights, feature lights, switches and the wiring needed to power them safely.

Good lighting makes it easier to see, work and move around your home or workplace. It can also make a room feel more comfortable. If you are renovating, it is best to plan the lighting early, especially if you want lights built into the ceiling or hidden wiring. We can coordinate the lighting with your false ceiling installation so everything fits together properly.

LM Infinite provides lighting installation services in Singapore with our in-house team and licensed electrical workers. We can install lighting as part of an HDB flat renovation, condo renovation or office renovation. We can supply the lights or install fittings you have already bought. Before work begins, we explain what is included and how much it will cost.

How it works

How does lighting installation work?

1. Tell us about the space

Tell us which rooms need lights and what you want to change. Photos help. We visit, look at the ceilings and walls, and check the wiring that is already there. The visit is free.

2. Plan where the lights go

We suggest where each light should go, how bright it should be and which colour suits the room, so the lights fit your layout and your furniture.

3. Get a written quote

Your quote lists the lights, the labour and any new wiring separately, so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

4. Wiring and ceiling work

Licensed electrical workers do the wiring. We plan it with the ceiling and carpentry work, so cables stay hidden and light positions match the finished room.

5. Fit and test

We fit the lights and switches and test every one, so each light works the way you asked.

6. Safety check and handover

A licensed electrical worker checks that the installation is safe before the power is switched on. We then show you how everything works.

Average cost

Lighting Installation Cost in Singapore

The cost of lighting installation depends on how many lights you want, what type they are and whether new wiring is needed. For a typical 4-room HDB flat with 8 to 12 lights, published estimates run about S$600 to S$1,500, including the lights and the work. New wiring from the power board, extra wiring for more lights and false ceilings usually add about 20 to 40 percent.

Downlights

About S$60 to S$130 per light for installation, depending on the ceiling and the type of light.

Pendant and hanging lights

About S$80 to S$160 per light. Heavy or large fittings cost more to fit.

Track lights

About S$100 to S$300 per track, depending on the length and the number of lights on it.

A new light point

A new light point with new wiring starts from about S$120. Extra points in the same visit are cheaper, from about S$40.

These are rough guides, not quotes. They are based on published 2026 price guides, and not every guide includes the light itself. Dimmer switches typically add about S$50 to S$150 each. Call us on +65 9095 4506 for a written quotation. We will visit, count the lights and price the exact job.

Budget

What affects the cost of lighting installation?

Two rooms with the same number of lights can cost different amounts. These are the things that change the price the most.

Ask for a quote that lists lights, labour and wiring separately. It is the easiest way to compare two quotes fairly.

Singapore requirements

What rules apply to lighting work in Singapore?

Lighting is electrical work, and Singapore has clear rules on who may do it. Here is what matters when you are adding or changing lights.

Who can do the wiring

Adding, extending or replacing lighting points, switches and power points must be done or supervised by a Licensed Electrical Worker registered with the Energy Market Authority (EMA). Changing a light bulb is fine for anyone. You can check a worker’s licence on EMA’s ELISE portal.

HDB flats

All wiring work in an HDB flat must be done by an EMA-licensed electrical worker. Adding lights generally does not need an HDB permit, but you must follow HDB’s conditions, such as not burying wiring pipes in concrete. New wiring is tested through SP Services by the licensed worker.

False ceilings

HDB does not require a permit for a false ceiling, but it must follow conditions. It must be at least 2.4 metres above the floor (except in toilets), made of materials that do not burn easily, and must not enclose any gas pipe.

Condos, shops and offices

Condominiums, malls and office buildings set their own rules on working hours, approvals and protecting shared areas. We check these before we quote, so there are no delays on the day.

Rules change. This page was last checked on 26 October 2026. Check the latest on EMA’s page on licensed electrical workers and HDB’s renovation pages, or ask us.

Published 2026 price guides put installation at about S$60 to S$130 per downlight, S$80 to S$160 per pendant light and S$100 to S$300 per track. For anything that involves wiring, yes. In Singapore, adding, extending or replacing a lighting point, switch or power point must be done or supervised by a Licensed Electrical Worker. Changing a light bulb does not need one. We use licensed electrical workers for all wiring.

Usually yes. HDB generally does not require a permit for additional lighting points, but the work must follow HDB’s conditions and be done by a licensed electrical worker, and new wiring must be tested through SP Services. We handle this as part of the job.

Warm white is softer and cosier, so it suits living rooms and bedrooms. Cool white or daylight is brighter and sharper, so it suits kitchens, study areas and bathrooms. Many homes use warm white in relaxing areas and cool white where the work happens. We can show you the difference at the site visit.

Yes, both. During a renovation it is easiest, because we plan the wiring with the ceiling and carpentry work and the cables stay hidden. In an existing home we can add lights too, but some ceiling cutting and patching may be needed.

We can supply them, or fit the lights you have bought yourself. Many clients buy their own feature lights and let us handle the wiring and mounting.

Yes. Repeated tripping usually points to a fault in the wiring, too many things drawing power from one line, or a failing appliance. We check each line of wiring one by one and tell you what is causing it before we repair anything.

Yes. We are based at 12C Lorong 9 Geylang and install lighting across Singapore, from Orchard, Novena and Toa Payoh in the centre to Tampines and Bedok in the east, Punggol, Sengkang and Woodlands in the north, and Jurong, Clementi and Bukit Batok in the west. Call +65 9095 4506 or WhatsApp us your address and the rooms you want to light.
