What Does Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Cover?
Kitchen exhaust cleaning removes grease and dirt that build up inside your hood, filters, exhaust ducts and exhaust fan during daily cooking. Over time, grease can restrict airflow, reduce extraction performance and increase the risk of a kitchen fire.
LM Infinite provides commercial kitchen exhaust cleaning in Singapore for restaurants, cafés, food courts, canteens and central kitchens. Our service focuses on the main parts of your extraction system where grease tends to collect.
Our kitchen exhaust cleaning service covers:
Kitchen hood cleaning: Removes grease and oily residue from accessible hood surfaces.
Grease filter cleaning: Clears built-up grease from filters to help maintain proper airflow.
Exhaust duct cleaning: Removes grease deposits inside accessible duct sections.
Exhaust fan cleaning: Cleans grease from accessible fan components to support effective extraction.
Before-and-after photos: Provides a visual record of the cleaning work for your maintenance files.
- Hood, filter and baffle degreasing
- Interior and exterior duct degreasing
- Exhaust fan and housing cleaning
- Exhaust repair, modification and installation
- Hood, fan and make-up air installation
- Before-and-after photo report for your records
From first photo to filed record
1. Enquiry and site check
Send a photo of your hood and duct access, or ask for a site visit. We note the hood size, duct route and length, access openings and where the fan sits.
2. Scope and written quote
The quote lists what is cleaned, the access needed, the working hours and what is excluded, so two quotes can be compared like for like.
3. Scheduling around service
Cleaning runs after closing wherever possible. We agree equipment isolation and the protection of appliances and food areas before we start.
4. Degreasing
The hood, filters, duct interior and exterior, and the fan housing are degreased through the accessible sections of the system.
5. Before-and-after photos
Each section is photographed before and after cleaning, giving you the written record the Fire Code expects you to keep.
6. Report and next service date
You receive the report for your Fire Safety Instruction Manual and for inspectors, plus a recommended next cleaning date based on how hard your kitchen works.
What Drives the Price of Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning
Exhaust cleaning is quoted per system, not per hour or per hood, because the grease load and the access decide the work. We do not publish a flat price, and a flat price that never asks about your ducting should make you cautious.
- Number of hoods and the length of the cooking line
- Duct length, number of bends and height of the run
- Grease build-up: a first clean or a regular schedule
- Access: openings, ceiling panels, rooftop or wall discharge
- Fan type and where it is located
- After-hours or public-holiday working
A kitchen cleaned every six months costs less per visit than one cleaned for the first time in years, because the build-up is the work. A quote that does not ask about duct length and access is a guess.
What the Fire Code requires of your kitchen exhaust
Grease in kitchen exhaust systems is a recognised cause of fires in food establishments, and SCDF’s Fire Code sets a clear minimum for cleaning it. These are the requirements that most often matter at inspection.
The 12-month minimum
Fire Code 2023, clause 7.1.13d: the entire interior and exterior of the exhaust duct and kitchen hood must be degreased and cleaned at least once every 12 months. The work must be carried out by a specialist, and the owner or operator keeps the records for verification.
Records and inspection
The cleaning requirement must be included in your Fire Safety Instruction Manual. SFA officers check the exterior of the exhaust system and ask for maintenance records, and food shops without proper records are referred to SCDF for follow-up action.
Who is responsible
SCDF’s note to Qualified Persons states that building owners, MCSTs and eating outlet operators must ensure compliance. In a multi-tenant building, find out whether a shared exhaust riser is cleaned by management or by you.
Changing a duct route
Kitchen exhaust ducts that pass through floors must run in a protected shaft with masonry enclosure, and fire dampers must not be fitted where a kitchen exhaust duct passes through a protected shaft wall (clauses 7.1.2e and 7.1.5c). Altering a duct is a fire-safety matter, with plans lodged by a Qualified Person.
Regulations are updated, and this page was last checked on 25 October 2026. Read the source yourself: SCDF Fire Code 2023, clause 7.1 and SFA guidelines for licensed food retail premises.
How to choose a kitchen exhaust cleaning service
Searching for the best kitchen exhaust cleaning service near you returns plenty of claims and very few ways to compare them. These are the four checks that separate a cleaning that satisfies an inspector from one that merely looks tidy.
Does it clean the whole system?
The Fire Code refers to the entire interior and exterior of the duct and hood. A provider that only wipes the hood and filters has not cleaned the exhaust system. Ask which sections are included and how hard-to-reach sections are handled.
Will you get records?
Before-and-after photographs and a written report are what an inspector, landlord or insurer will ask to see. If a provider cannot produce them, you are paying for a service you cannot prove.
Can it work around your service?
Cleaning after closing keeps the kitchen trading. Ask how appliances and food areas are protected and how access panels are closed up afterwards.
Can its credentials be checked?
LM Infinite is a BCA-registered contractor with bizSAFE Star and ISO 45001:2018 occupational health and safety certification from TNV, all verifiable with the issuer. They show how safely we work, not how well we clean, so judge the work by the scope and the records.
Compare at least three written quotes on the same scope. A lower price that leaves out the inside of the duct or the fan is a different, smaller job.

Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Service Singapore FAQ
At least once every 12 months. Fire Code 2023, clause 7.1.13d, requires the entire interior and exterior of the exhaust duct and kitchen hood to be degreased and cleaned at least that often, by a specialist. Twelve months is the legal minimum, not a recommended interval: for busy kitchens we recommend every three to six months, because the build-up between cleans is what causes fires.
Yes, for food establishments covered by the Fire Code. SFA states that the Fire Code requires kitchen exhaust systems to be properly maintained, takes action against food shops found with dirty kitchen exhaust, and refers shops without maintenance records to SCDF.
The records of cleaning and degreasing, kept by the owner or operator for verification, and the cleaning requirement itself must appear in your Fire Safety Instruction Manual. We provide before-and-after photographs and a written report for every job, which is what inspectors, landlords and insurers usually ask for.
Cleaning removes grease from the hood, filters, ducting and fan. Maintenance is broader: inspecting the fan and motor, checking filters and access panels, and fixing faults found along the way. We do both — cleaning is scheduled, and any repair is quoted after inspection.
Yes. We repair, modify and install hoods, ducting, fans and make-up air. Work that changes a duct route or affects fire safety must have plans lodged by a Qualified Person before it starts, and we build to the approved drawings.
Yes. We schedule cleaning outside service hours wherever possible, so the kitchen is ready to trade when you reopen.
It depends on the number of hoods, the duct length and route, how much grease has built up, access, and working hours. We quote per system, in writing, after photos or a site visit. We do not publish a flat price, because a flat price ignores the things that decide the work.
